What is OEHU?

The Rotterdam Open Energy Hub/OEHU is a public, open-source, distributed database for smart meter data. Users can contribute their data to a personal energy usage dashboard, detailed datasets from all contributors, and cloud-based data analysis tools.

How it works

If you have a smart meter, this meter is continuously sharing energy data. The default information it shares is the amount of kWh of electricity & m3 of gas that is used, with a precision of 20 seconds.

Right now the data is shared with your net deliverer. With OEHU it's possible to own your own data.

It's fairly easy: You connect a Raspberry Pi to your smart meter using an USB cable. After configuration it sends the data to a shared database in which you stay owner of yóur data. You'll instantly have access to your real time, personalized dashboard.

Get started & sign up for a dashboard

Be wise & own your own data! You'll get full access to your data & charts in return.

You will need a Raspberry Pi, that you connect to your smart meter. At the first time you configure some basic things. After that the Pi will autonomously upload your energy data to a decentralized database. You stay owner of your data, and you'll have instantly access to a live & personal dashboard. That's it!

If you're curious and want to start, click Get Started below. The guide will show you where to buy the Pi, and how to configure it. From then you'll have full control and get nice insights.
